Maintenance / Farbricator

JOB DESCRIPTION
Title: Maintenance / Fabricator Status: Full-time/non-exempt
Location: Montpelier, IN Department: Maintenance
Reports to: Maintenance Supervisor Wage Grade: Based upon skills/experience
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Read and interpret blueprints, engineering plans and work plans to design projects.
Lay-out, cut, fit, measure, and weld metals to create the desired shapes, objects or machine parts as needed.
Operate cutting torch and welding equipment to cut or join metal parts.
Inspect and test welds and equipment for durability as well as meeting specified standards.
Examine form and texture of parts to detect imperfections.
Inspect parts to determine changes in dimensional requirements.
Set up and operate lathe, drill press, grinder and other metalworking tools to make and repair parts.
Perform rigging activities as needed.
Install, maintain and repair machinery and equipment.
Observe mechanical devices in operation and analyze sounds to locate causes of trouble.
Adjust functional parts of devices and control instruments.
Dismantle and replace defective parts.
Clean and lubricate shafts, bearings, gears and other parts of machinery.
Assemble, install and maintain pipe systems and related hydraulic and pneumatic equipment and repair and replace gauges, valves, pressure regulators and related equipment.
Perform minor electrical maintenance and projects.
Maintain accurate documentation pertaining to work orders and projects.
Works safely.
Must be available to work any shift and overtime as necessary.
Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS:

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
High school diploma; Formal technical training or degree in industrial/mechanical maintenance or related discipline preferred and five years of related work experience or equivalent/combination of education and experience.
Experience in troubleshooting and programming PLCs and drives preferred.
Post-secondary certification in Electricity, Welding, Fabrication, etc., preferred.
Experience with MIG, TIG and ARC welding systems and processes.
LANGUAGE SKILLS:
Communicate in the English language, both written and spoken
Read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedures
Write routine reports and correspondence
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS:
Add, subtract, multiply and divide in appropriate units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals
Compute rate, ratio, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume
Draw and interpret bar graphs
REASONING ABILITY:
Understand and follow instructions
Maintain effective working relationship with other employees
Operate assigned equipment safely and efficiently
Deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations
COMPUTER SKILLS:
Microsoft Office (Word and Excel)
Internet applications
PLC software
Other troubleshooting programs
OTHER SKILLS:
Read, interpret and draw blue prints and schematics.
Use calipers, inside and outside micrometers.
Valid drivers license and good driving record.
Working knowledge of industrial electrical components, wiring, processes, etc.
Welding and metal fabrication skills.

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
